Principal Technical Product Manager
Our vision is to transform how the world uses information to enrich life for all.
Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever.
As a Technical Product Manager, you will serve as the bridge between customers, engineering, architecture, and business teams, driving product requirements from concept through launch and deployment. You will translate market needs, industry standards, emerging technologies, and customer requirements into product strategies that enable Micron's industry-leading SSD portfolio. Success requires a blend of technical depth, strategic thinking, and cross-functional leadership to guide complex product decisions and deliver differentiated solutions that meet the evolving needs of the data center market.
Responsibilities- Serve as the primary technical point of contact representing Micron's Data Center SSD roadmap, architecture, qualification plans, and product direction to strategic hyperscale and OEM customer engineering leaders, while building durable, trust-based relationships that position Micron as a preferred long-term partner.
- Lead the gathering and translation of customer requirements, including specifications, RFIs/RFQs, platform constraints, qualification needs, and escalation paths, into clear product requirements (MRDs), engineering decisions, and customer transition plans that keep EVT/DVT/PVT timelines on track.
- Represent Micron in industry ecosystem and standards forums (e.g., PCIe-SIG, OCP, JEDEC), building external credibility and helping shape specifications relevant to Micron's product direction.
- Own end-to-end product requirements and technical strategy for one or more SSD product lines from concept through qualification and volume ramp, driving technical tradeoff decisions across NAND, controller/ASIC, firmware, and system-level interfaces while balancing performance, cost, schedule, and customer commitments.
- Align ASIC, firmware, and systems engineering teams around customer- and market-driven priorities, translating external requirements into technical tradeoff discussions and driving decisions when priorities conflict.
- Partner with sales, segment leadership, NPI, Business Operations, and Technical Customer Management (TCM)/FAE teams to shape account strategy, volume forecasts, positioning, customer commitments, supply plans, and qualification milestones while ensuring commercial plans reflect technical reality.
- Brief executive and cross-functional leadership on program status, risks, and strategic recommendations, serving as a clear and credible voice on complex technical and customer topics.
- Drive innovation and organizational scale through invention disclosures, new architecture approaches, process and tooling improvements, mentor product managers and technical program managers, and leveraging AI to enhance work efficiency and effectiveness.
- 10+ years of experience in product management, systems/product engineering, or technical program management within SSD, storage, or semiconductor industries.
- Strong technical foundation in NAND flash, SSD controller/ASIC architecture, PCIe/NVMe protocols, and firmware/system-level interactions.
- Demonstrated experience engaging directly with hyperscale or enterprise customers on technical requirements, qualification, and platform integration.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence outcomes without direct authority across engineering, sales, and executive stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adjust technical depth for audiences ranging from silicon engineers to executive leadership and customer executives.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
