Registered Nurse - L&D – UHC Staffing Registered Nurse - L&D
Location: Folsom, CA
Contract Type: Contract
Shift Type: Night shifts, 12-hour schedule (12x3 pattern) — rotating nights with 2 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule (weekend nights typically Fri/Sat). Night shift commitment includes on-call/standby possibilities with a 30-minute callback; holidays rotate with core staff.

- Provide expert labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum (LDRP) nursing care for mothers and newborns
- Attend deliveries and perform neonatal resuscitation (NRP) when required — be ready to “catch the baby”
- Titrate and manage common drips (e.g., Pitocin; occasional insulin per protocol) and monitor maternal/fetal status
- Collaborate with OB, anesthesia (on-call), respiratory therapy and perinatal specialists to optimize outcomes
- Support and coordinate care for C-sections in the OR suite when acting as circulating nurse
- Monitor and interpret fetal heart tracings using the Fetalink EFM system and follow AWHONN guidelines for ratios
- Assist with antepartum NST testing and newborn stabilization in the NICU when required
- Participate in unit staffing, float to other Sacramento facilities as needed, and rotate holidays/weekends as scheduled
- Active Registered Nurse (RN)
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, AWHONN Advanced EFM
- Minimum: at least 1 year of LDRP experience; preferred: 3 years of L&D/LDRP experience in a similar setting
- Comfortable with NRP at delivery (no in-house pediatric coverage) and able to titrate drips per unit policy
- L&D experience with OR circulating experience preferred; candidates with only postpartum experience will not be accepted
- Ability to work nights, rotate weekends and participate in holiday rotations; available for 30-minute call-back when on standby
- Proficient in labor and delivery workflows, maternal/newborn assessments and postpartum care
- Fetal monitoring skills and experience with electronic fetal monitoring (Fetalink preferred)
- Neonatal resuscitation (NRP) skills and ability to stabilize newborns for transfer if needed
- Skill in titrating Pitocin and managing other common infusions per protocol
- Comfort working with surgical teams for C-sections and coordinating with anesthesia/on-call services
- Ability to collaborate with respiratory therapy for neonatal respiratory support and equipment (ventilator, CPAP, bubble CPAP)
