Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery

Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Nights, 12-hour night shifts (rotating). Nights typically include Friday & Saturday; every-other-weekend requirement (2 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule). On-call/standby possible with 30-minute callback; first-to-float. Guaranteed 36 hours/week. (Schedule posted 4 weeks in advance)

Requirements- Provide safe, high-quality labor and delivery care for mothers and newborns, including mother/baby couplets
- Lead neonatal stabilization and perform Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) at deliveries when required
- Monitor fetal status using EFM (Fetalink) and apply advanced fetal monitoring principles
- Titrate IV drips (including Pitocin and occasional insulin) and manage set-rate drips safely
- Serve as OR circulating nurse for C-sections when assigned
- Collaborate closely with OB/Gynecologists, neonatologists, perinatal specialists, anesthesia (on-call), RT and OB Techs to coordinate care
- Document care accurately in Cerner and elevate concerns when maternal or neonatal status changes
- Cover charge nurse or shift manager responsibilities as needed and support unit workflow and staffing
- Active California RN license (required to submit)
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, AWHONN Advanced EFM
- Minimum 1 year of LDRP/Labor & Delivery experience required; 3 years preferred in this setting
- OR circulating experience required for L&D-only candidates (postpartum-only experience not accepted)
- Comfortable performing NRP at delivery — unit has no in-house pediatric coverage
- Able to titrate drips and manage common obstetric medications safely
- Willingness to work nights, weekends (EOW), and respond to on-call/standby within 30 minutes
- Ability to float to other Sacramento facilities when requested
