American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring 2+ years of ICU experience and active CA RN licensure.
Details- 8-bed Intensive Care Unit in an acute care hospital setting
- Patient ratios of 1:1-2
- Charge nurse available for break relief but generally does not take patients
- No nurse aides on the unit
- Uses Cerner EMR
- 12-hour night shifts, 7pm-7:30am, with self-scheduling finalized by manager
- Every other weekend required
- Rotates holiday coverage with core staff
- Floating required to other Sacramento area facilities
- May be placed on-call if not needed in the department
- Respiratory Therapy and Pharmacy available 24/7
- No in-house hospitalist or intensivist; utilizes Telemed robot
- No dedicated IV team
- 1-2 days of floor-specific orientation with a preceptor
- Active CA RN license required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
- Must be able to read and interpret EKG strips
- Experience with ventilators including Galileo and G5 models
- Cerner EMR experience
- Completion of Relias Dysrhythmia exam required prior to confirming offer, within 24-48 hours of acceptance
- Copy of driver's license required to verify legal name matches government-issued
- Two supervisor/peer references required, one within past 12 months and one within past 3 years, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility
- Care for a general medical/surgical ICU population including stable CVA post-TPA, respiratory failure, manual proning, COPD, CHF, and DKA
- No CABG or neuro surgery cases on this unit
- Navy scrubs required; undershirts must be navy, white, or black, and scrub jackets if worn must be navy
- Overtime and extra shifts available through self-scheduling, with schedules released 4 weeks in advance
- Pass/Fail sterile technique test administered on first day of orientation for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes
- Failure of required testing may result in a 6-month do-not-use status with the health system in this region
- Candidates may not have been directly employed by any facility within this health system network in the past year, though PRN employment through outside staffing firms will be considered
