Qualcomm is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal of Software Engineering for a software Windows system lead focused on Windows on Snapdragon products. This role is crucial in driving the full life cycle of feature definition, development, commercialization, and deployment within the Windows OS ecosystem. The role requires a deep understanding of Windows operating systems, security, enterprise solutions, and the PC ecosystem.

The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Windows OS, APIs, kernel, drivers, and the surrounding ecosystem, coupled with strong leadership qualities and the ability to execute product-oriented strategies in a fast-paced environment. As a senior member of the team working on software systems and features, you will analyze requirements and develop high-level designs for new features, potentially including constraints of live update to in-field devices.

You will also drive technical initiatives to evolve Windows on Snapdragon software and work closely with development leads, software and hardware architects, project engineers, product managers, customer engineers, OEMs, and external partners.

• Provide technical leadership for Windows platform development activities related to Snapdragon Windows Platform/SoC.
• Lead Windows development for complex features and subsystems to meet Windows on Snapdragon product requirements; recommend technical and architectural enhancements such as Windows drivers, hypervisor/virtualization, security, memory, storage, buses, peripherals, power, and thermals.
• Lead Windows Platform initiatives, such as System BIOS, UEFI, ACPI, drivers, applications, loose-leaf driver architecture, OS compatibility, and enterprise security features, ensuring efficient and effective delivery of software solutions across the full life cycle of development.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks to ensure robust security and compliance.
• Act as a technical expert on PC industry trends, competitor products, and advances in engineering fields, sharing expertise within and across teams.
• Leverage technical expertise to identify trends and define future solutions, contributing to discussions on short- and long-term strategic direction of product and technology roadmaps.
• Research and work cross-functionally to define requirements; develop hands-on prototypes.
• Serve as a technical expert in developing solutions; participate in design reviews and recommend improvements to align with business goals and customer needs.
• Provide hands‑on guidance in software development, resolve technical challenges, and drive platform efficiency.
• Ensure high‑quality software development practices and maintain the highest standards of technical excellence.

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 8+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
• Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 7+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
• PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 6+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
• 4+ years of work experience with programming languages such as C, C++, Java, or Python.

• Deep technical background in Microsoft Windows OS concepts, kernel, drivers, APIs, power management, performance, security, and Dev Ops.
• Expert experience in Microsoft Windows device driver development, including WHQL certification, Windows HLK, Windows Update processes, development frameworks, and tool chains.
• Strong knowledge of Windows system architecture across heterogeneous CPU and SoC architecture as well as PC/Client platforms.
• Understanding of OEM/ODM product development flow and the overall PC ecosystem.
• Strong experience with power and performance optimizations for Windows OS and SoC hardware, firmware, and BSP enhancements.
