We are looking for a dynamic, energetic Lead / Principal Systems Design Engineer to join our growing team. As a key contributor to the success of AMD’s product, you will be part of a leading team to drive and improve AMD’s abilities to deliver the highest quality, industry‑leading technologies to market. The Systems Design Engineering team fosters and encourages continuous technical innovation to showcase successes as well as facilitate continuous career development.
THEPERSON
As a leader in Systems Design Engineering, you will drive balanced, scalable, and automated solutions. In this high visibility position, your software systems engineering expertise will be necessary towards product development, definition, and root cause resolution.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Driving technical innovation to improve AMD’s capabilities across functional and performance validation, including tool and script development, technical and procedural methodology enhancement, and various internal and cross‑functional initiatives.
- Collaborate with architects, hardware engineers, and firmware engineers to understand new features to be verified and product specs to generate new content and identify gaps.
- Build test plans and documentation, accounting for interactions with other features, hardware, firmware, and software driver use cases.
- Debug test failures to determine root cause; work with RTL and firmware engineers to resolve design defects and correct test issues in SOC programs during bring‑up, validation, and production phases.
- Track test execution with multiple teams to ensure all features are validated and optimized on time.
- Lead collaborative approaches with multiple teams to develop test plans and directed and random validation/verification test cases.
- Lead and coach junior engineers in day‑to‑day execution and debugging.
- Programming/scripting skills in C/C++, Perl, Ruby, or Python.
- Strong understanding and hands‑on experience in post‑silicon functional and/or performance validation, core or equivalent relevance to stress security features, dynamic test generation, directed test development, etc.
- Debugging scans and understanding of strong assembly; proficient in debugging firmware and RTL code using simulation tools.
- Automating workflows in a distributed compute environment.
- Proficiency in working with Linux, hypervisors, and virtual environments.
- Familiarity with transient execution attacks (Spectre, Meltdown, etc.), hardware protection features, virtualization platforms such as VMware, Hyper‑V, Xen Server; experience is a plus.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical or computer engineering with 10+ years of experience.
