Position Overview:

Excel Engineering is seeking a Construction Coordinator I to support our architects and engineers on projects across the country. This is a field-focused role that involves traveling to job sites, documenting existing buildings, and gathering information on HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.

This position is a good fit for someone who prefers being on-site, working hands-on, and dealing with real-world conditions rather than sitting behind a desk.

What You'll Do:

Travel to job sites nationwide to document existing building conditions
Take field measurements and verify layouts
Perform Matterport scans to capture building conditions and layouts
Identify and document existing HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems
Take photos and notes to clearly communicate site conditions
Complete existing conditions reports with organized and accurate information
Assist with drafting existing conditions drawings from time to time
Perform site visits and construction observations as needed
Coordinate with internal team members to ensure accurate and complete information

What We're Looking For:

3-5 years of experience in construction, MEP systems, or a related field, or an associate degree in a similar discipline
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings
General understanding of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Comfortable working independently in the field
Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and Adobe

What to Expect:

Frequent travel, including overnight trips
Majority of time spent in the field rather than in an office
Consistent, repeatable work focused on documenting existing buildings and systems

Nice to Have:

Experience with Matterport or similar 3D scanning technology
Familiarity with Revit or AutoCAD
Experience documenting existing conditions or performing field surveys
