Job Description
St. Mary’s Springs Academy is seeking a full-time History/Social Studies Teacher for grades 9-12 for the Academic Year. The successful candidate shall be certified to teach Social Studies or History for grades 9-12 in the State of WI, and shall maintain high standards for themselves and students. The candidate is a team player, flexible, collaborates with colleagues, successfully integrates technology in daily instruction, and differentiates instruction and assessments.
Wisconsin high school social studies teachers must demonstrate proficiency in inquiry-based instruction across six core strands:
Behavioral Sciences, Economics, Geography, History, Political Science, and Inquiry Practices. Teachers are expected to align instruction with the Wisconsin Standards for Social Studies, focusing on critical thinking, civic engagement, and historical analysis, including the history of organized labor and diverse cultural perspectives. At least two years of teaching experience and practicing Catholic is preferred.
Examples of Duties
- Teaching multiple grade levels of high school students by designing lesson plans that meet developmental needs.
- Providing students with appropriate classroom lessons, assessments, and homework/projects that offer meaningful feedback to students.
- Professional grading and academic record keeping along with other administrative tasks or supervisory duties typically expected of teachers and assigned by the principal.
- Engaging with professional development in‑services and other duties as assigned by the principal.
- Contributing to the professional learning community at SMSA as inspired, needed or assigned.
Required Experience or Qualifications
- Qualified candidate must demonstrate proficiency in inquiry-based instruction across six core strands:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Broadfield Social Studies or History from an accredited college or university (Master’s Degree in History or Education is preferred).
- DPI License to teach high school in the State of Wisconsin.
- Experienced teacher and/or strong desire to teach high school students.
- Every teacher shall become Safe Environment Education (SEE) trained through the Archdiocese of Milwaukee.

Salary Range / Hourly Range
Salary commensurate with experience.
