About the RoleWe are currently seeking a highly motivated Buyer who thrives in a fast-paced, transactional environment. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys chasing down solutions, resolving supply chain challenges, and driving urgent actions to support customer needs focused in our Aftermarket.
The Buyer is responsible for managing a high volume of daily purchasing transactions, entering and maintaining accurate ERP system data, expediting orders, and proactively following parts through the entire procurement and fulfillment process. Working closely with suppliers, OEMs, internal warehouses, and cross-functional teams, this individual ensures materials are sourced, tracked, redirected, and delivered to support assembly schedules and customer deadlines.
Success in this role requires strong follow-up skills, attention to detail, persistence, and a sense of urgency to identify and remove obstacles before they impact operations. The Buyer plays a critical role in ensuring part availability, minimizing delays, and supporting on-time delivery for our aftermarket customers.
Key ResponsibilitiesAt Fives, we all have a part to play. In this role, you will:
- Proactive parts management focused on efficiency for delivery and cost on outstanding part needs
- Support strategic buyers for needs relating to lead times, and stocking strategiest optimise working capital and supply continuity
- Create and maintainpurchase orders in SAP, ensuring accuracy of pricing, delivery, and inventory data
- Evaluatematerial requirements and demand signalsto support production and aftermarket needs
- Maintain system accuracy through data analysis, transaction updates, and reporting
- Monitor and communicatesupplier performance (delivery, quality, cost) with team
- Partner with suppliers and internal teams (Engineering, Quality, Operations) to:
- Reduce lead times
- Improve on-time delivery and “want date” accuracy
- Drive continuous cost reduction and value engineering initiatives
- Support supplier audits alongside Quality and Engineering to ensure compliance and process maturity
- Act as a key liaison betweensuppliers, manufacturing, engineering, and other internal stakeholders
- Support resolution ofinvoice discrepancies, supplier credits, and operational issues
- Participate in continuous improvement and Lean manufacturing initiatives
