We are currently seeking a Utility Operator to join the Fond du Lac, WI team.
Shift and PayPay: $27.00 USD per hour plus an additional $1.00 USD per hour for the shift premium.
Shift: Nights, 6:00 PM–6:00 AM with alternate weekends off.
ResponsibilitiesThe Utility Operator is responsible for filling a variety of positions as needed, including but not limited to packaging, sanitation, operating RO/UF/nano/pasteurizer, evaporator, dryers, intake, loadouts, and any other duties assigned by Plant Leadership.
Production & Operations- Communicate with departmental operators to manage silo space and production schedules; promptly escalation if needed.
- Monitor, plan, and track all incoming product to support upcoming production runs.
- Trace product lines and track the location of all products being transferred.
- Ensure all incoming and finished products meet customer specifications for quality and quantity.
- Review prior shift documentation and follow established production schedules.
- Perform all required positions within departments as needed.
- Work overtime as required.
- Pull liquid samples and use analysis results to adjust operational parameters.
- Check silo temperatures and solids; document results on RO/UF Daily Production Reports.
- Monitor powder moisture levels and adjust dryer settings accordingly.
- Verify dryer, evaporator, CIP, and system settings to ensure products remain within specifications.
- Periodically inspect lecithin spray nozzle patterns.
- Inspect fluid beds, sifters, and HPP systems for defects; remove obstructions and report deviations immediately.
- Operate all CIP3 and CIP4 systems within the plant.
- Maintain filtration equipment to meet specification requirements.
- Monitor filtration equipment and silo areas for leaks or issues and report immediately.
- Perform routine equipment maintenance and assist maintenance personnel with repairs as needed.
- Verify that required product samples are taken during packaging.
- Ensure packaging operators have necessary supplies (bags, pallets, skid sheets, etc.).
- Assist with packaging during breaks and troubleshoot packaging issues.
- Train packaging operators to ensure GMP compliance.
- Ensure all pallets and bags are properly labeled, placarded, and removed from the bag room at the completion of each lot.
- Maintain accurate documentation for production runs, CIPs, bag weights, run numbers, and logs.
- Ensure proper documentation and cleanliness of silos, lines, and equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow the daily sanitation schedule.
- Adhere to all established Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
- 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment (dairy/wet processing preferred).
- Ability to work in confined spaces.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations involving packaging materials, weight calculations, percent inclusion, percent protein/fat, blend ratios, drug reconciliation, product flow rate, and conversion of liquids to solids.
- Ability to repeatedly lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand and walk continually during shift.
- Possess problem‑solving skills related to operation, equipment maintenance, quality and process flow.
- Ability to climb ladders and multiple flights of stairs frequently during a shift.
- Ability to work well with others.
- Attendance in good standing.
- Ability to learn a variety of positions quickly.
High School Degree or Equivalent.
Physical DemandsHeavy work—lifting up to 100 lbs and frequent lifting or carrying objects up to 50 lbs. Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands and reach with hands and arms.
