Position Overview

We are seeking a Machinist Technician to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for producing high-quality precision parts while meeting safety, quality, and productivity standards. You'll work with a variety of machining equipment, technical documentation, and inspection tools in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This position is ideal for individuals who take pride in craftsmanship, problem-solving, and continuous improvement.

Job Summary:

Responsible for changing mechanical properties of parts through thermal or mechanical treatment. Also responsible for ensuring a safe work environment and adhering to established standards for production and quality.

Essential Functions:

Operate appropriate equipment to move parts including driving forklifts and using hoists Load and unload parts before and after carbonization in plant carbonizing furnaces Maintain production records including temperatures, time cycles, gas mixtures, and quality levels as required Set-up, adjust, and/or changeover equipment with appropriate tools needed Perform inspection visually and using gauges common to the classification at required intervals Take appropriate corrective action when out of tolerance situations occur Perform preventative maintenance inherent to the classification and equipment Daily and regular attendance is required.

Works overtime as required. Has the physical ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform these tasks, as specified in the "Physical Requirements" section of this Job Description

Marginal Duties:

Maintains a clean and safe working environment by complying with the JSA's, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Rules, and plant safety rules. Also responsible for reporting quality and safety issues to management. Manage hazardous waste activities including, but not limited to, container management, container transfer, container inspections and shipping activities such as loading and shipment documentation when applicable. Arrange for periodic quality checks by support personnel such as heat treat lab technicians Contributes to team effort by assisting where needed to ensure continuity of operations.

Clean and organize work area and equipment at close of shift and whenever needed Assists with employee training as needed. Communicates any issues or maintenance needs or irregularities with relieving employee to ensure and maintain efficient operations at shift change. Reads and understands MSDS sheets. Attends required meetings.

Physical Requirements:

1. Lifting and carrying items that weigh 17 to 52 lbs on a constant basis

2. Occasional extended forward and lateral reaching at shoulder levels

3. Standing up to 85%, Sitting up to 55%, Walking up to 50% of the work day depending on the job assignment

4. Vibratory exposure

Knowledge, Skill and Ability Requirements:

Must have the ability to read gauges Must have the ability to read process sheets Must have the ability to read and follow standardized work instructions Basic math skills

Education and Experience Requirements:

High School diploma or equivalent. Coursework in Metallurgy or Heat Treatment preferred. Complete Mercury Marine Annual RCRA Hazardous Waste, Universal Waste and Spill Response employee awareness training if applicable.

The anticipated hiring range for this position is $27.68, hourly. The actual base pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge / skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the specifics of the candidate's qualifications and the business context.
