The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for providing assigned health care services to Persons in Our Care. The individual in this position functions as a nursing team member in both infirmary and ambulatory settings. The LPN performs nursing procedures in situations, which require skilled technical care but do not require the direct supervision of the registered nurse. In highly complex situations, the LPN works under specific direction of the registered nurse.

The LPN is responsible for performing duties assigned by the registered nurse including assisting the RN to care for acutely ill patients, assisting in assessment of residents' health needs, making observations, reporting to the RN, and performing related documentation and record management activities.

Employees at Green Bay Correctional Institution are eligible for a $5/hour add-on for all hours worked. Weekend Licensed Practical Nurses will receive a weekend add-on of $5.00 per hour for all hours worked during qualifying periods to be determined by the employing units. Pay on appointment for current state employees may vary according to the applicable pay transaction provisions of the State Compensation Plan, Wisconsin Administrative Code, and statutes.

A twelve-month probationary period is required. This position is FLSA Non-Exempt.

The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.
