Job Summary
The Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) will support plasma center operations under the guidance of the Center Manager and Center Physician. Responsibilities include determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, and notifying donors of unsuitable test results. The role is eligible for a $1,500 sign‑on bonus.
Responsibilities- Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and review of Serological Protein Electrophoresis.
- Manage donor adverse events and evaluate donor reactions according to SOPs.
- Follow SOPs for medical emergencies, including development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for medical or technical issues and unacceptable findings.
- Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
- Manage employee incidents and determine need for further evaluation by occupational health/ER.
- Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations related to pandemic threats.
- High school diploma or equivalent, or graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
- Currently licensed or certified in the state of assignment: LPN or LVN.
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification.
- Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
- Completion of FDA‑approved training requirements for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
