Medical Support Specialist – LPN

Job Description

The Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) supports plasma center operations at Bio Life Plasma Services, a subsidiary of Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Ltd. The role reports to the Plasma Center Manager and performs under the guidance of the Center Manager or Assistant Manager and the Center Physician.

Every day, donors who come for plasma donation are motivated by the high‑quality plasma that becomes life‑changing medicine. Key responsibilities include determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, and notifying donors of unsuitable test results. The Specialist follows SOPs for medical emergencies, informs the Center Physician or Medical Affairs regarding unacceptable findings, supports vaccination programs for employees, manages employee incidents, and may serve as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS.

• Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self‑exclusion, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
• Evaluate donor reaction(s) and follow SOPs for medical emergencies, including donor transport to emergency care facilities.
• Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical/technical issues related to donor safety and eligibility.
• Support the Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
• Manage employee incidents and determine need for further evaluation by occupational health or ER; refer to EHS guidance regarding employee incidents.
• Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized, supporting investigations associated with pandemic threats within the local community per EHS or Medical Affairs.

• High school diploma or equivalent, including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
• Current license or certification in the state where responsibilities will be assigned (LPN or LVN).
• Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification.
• Fulfillment of state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Completion of FDA approved training requirements for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.

Hourly Wage Range: $24.32 – $33.44 (U.S. based employees may be eligible for short‑term incentives and additional benefits.)
