Position Overview:

As part of the talented Quality team, the 1st Shift Quality Technician – Metrology & Torque Tools supports machining and assembly operations through precise measurement, metrology support, and torque tool verification. This role partners closely with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure product quality, measurement accuracy, and data integrity across production processes.

Essential Functions:

  • Support metrology equipment calibration, verification, and basic instrument maintenance.
  • Support torque tools by verifying results, parameters, traceability, identifying abnormal tool behavior and supporting calibration activities.
  • Troubleshoot basic metrology, measurement, and torque tool issues; escalate complex problems as required.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, tolerances, GD&T, and key product characteristics.
  • Work with supervisors, engineers, technicians, and operators to support training and reinforce quality standards.
  • Perform dimensional inspections using precision metrology equipment, including calipers, micrometers, comparators, and other hand-held or fixed measurement devices.
  • Participate in internal process, product, and ISO audits as directed.
  • Support non-conforming material processes, including containment, sorting, tagging, and documentation.
  • Assist with quality spill resolution, part sorts, and creation of quality alerts and visual aids.
  • Collect, organize, and report inspection and quality data to support problem-solving activities.
  • Maintain a strong commitment to health and safety in the plant, laboratory, and office environments.

Required Qualifications:

  • Two or more years of experience in Quality, Metrology, Maintenance, or dimensional inspection, or a related technical degree in lieu of experience.
  • Hands-on experience with precision metrology and dimensional inspection in a manufacturing environment including bench layout of machined parts.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, tolerances, and GD&T.
  • Experience supporting or working with torque tools in a production environment.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, communication, and follow-up skills
  • Mechanical aptitude with strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to perform basic math and understand basic statistical concepts.
  • Proficient with PC software including Microsoft Suite including Power Bi.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage changing priorities and work independently within defined procedures.
  • Willingness to work extended hours or weekends as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Atlas Copco and/or Cleco torque tools.
  • Familiarity with Gage R&R / Measurement System Analysis (MSA).
  • Familiarity with production processes such as milling, turning, grinding, honing, and welding.
  • Familiarity with basic scripting using Python or VBA
  • Familiarity with serial communication
  • Working knowledge of ISO, Lean, or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Technician (or willingness to obtain).
  • Completed GD&T coursework or formal training.
  • Experience in a high-precision or regulated manufacturing

Working Conditions:

This is an on-site role in Fond du Lac, WI during day shift hours.
