Position Summary
The Senior Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for inspection, diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of mechanical and electrical equipment and systems across the correctional facility. The role includes oversight of a wide range of systems such as electrical, HVAC, plumbing, locks, fire control, and fuel storage, as well as motors, kitchen appliances, and power equipment. The supervisor also manages groundskeeping equipment, applies blueprints for structural repairs, and ensures security and safety in the work environment.
Responsibilities- Inspect and analyze equipment, diagnose malfunctions, and perform maintenance/repair of mechanical and electrical systems.
- Maintain vehicles, motors, kitchen appliances, and operate equipment such as welding torches, lifts, and generators.
- Operate groundskeeping equipment, including plow trucks, snow blowers, and mowers.
- Use blueprints and schematics to repair facility structure and fixtures.
- Supervise and train inmates in mechanical maintenance tasks while maintaining security.
- Keep detailed maintenance records, research required parts, and submit purchase proposals.
- Pay schedule and range 03-13 with a starting pay of $25.57/hour (probationary period required).
- Eligible for supplemental add-on pay of $5.00/hr (not including leave time) at Green Bay Correctional Institution.
- Substantial leave time including at least 3.5 weeks of vacation at start, 9 paid holidays, and ample accrued sick time that rolls over each year.

- FLSA Non‑Exempt. Not expected to travel regularly.
- For some positions, a valid driver's license is required and may need to meet fleet requirements.
- Physical ability to perform manual labor, climb, bend, crawl, lift, and work in cold, hot, or dusty environments.
- Eligibility: legally authorized to work in the U.S. (citizen, national, lawful permanent resident, or alien authorized to work without DOC sponsorship).
- Pre‑employment drug screen and background checks required. All new DOC employees subject to fingerprinting upon hire.

- Experience or training in construction or repair of structures (wood, steel, or other metals, building fixtures, furniture, etc.).
- Experience or training in general maintenance and repairs (plumbing, HVAC, electrical work, vehicles, motors, kitchen appliances, motorized equipment, welding, lifts, generators).
- Experience operating powered grounds maintenance equipment (plow trucks, snow blowers, lawn mowers, skid steers, lifts, utility vehicles).
