Position: Treatment Specialist 1

The Department of Corrections is focused on public safety through the custody and supervision of those in our care. Corrections employees have the opportunity to positively impact the lives of others through careers in a variety of fields.

The Department is currently accepting applications for Treatment Specialist 1 positions located throughout the state.

Position Summary

This position formulates and implements individual and group interventions in the areas of reentry programming, including but not limited to programming in the areas of Domestic Violence, Employment, Anger Management and Cognitive Behavioral Programming. The specialist will conduct evaluations using evidence‑based evaluation rating tools, implement case and treatment plans, and deliver evidence‑based DAI primary programming. The specialist will develop and implement therapeutic interventions to improve Persons In Our Care’s success in completing program requirements.

Information

The position is in pay schedule and range 12‑64 with a starting pay of $29.94/hour - $35.03/hour
. Pay on appointment for current state employees may vary according to applicable provisions. A twelve‑month probationary period is required. Employees at Green Bay Correctional Institution are eligible for a $5/hour add‑on for all hours worked. Candidates who apply to Columbia, Racine, or Racine Youthful Offender Correctional Facility with no prior permanent employment with the State of Wisconsin in the past five years may be eligible for a sign‑on bonus of $3,000 ($1,500 on first paycheck, $1,500 after earning permanent status).

Qualifications
  • Administering and interpreting assessment instruments
  • Communicating complex information verbally and in writing
  • Documentation and production of reports
  • Delivering evidence‑based social service programming
  • Facilitating group and individual counseling
  • Investigation, problem identification and solving techniques
  • Research and evidence‑based cognitive behavioral methodologies
  • Treatment techniques related to criminogenic needs
  • Use of database software and office suite software (MS Office, etc.)

A screening questionnaire will determine if candidates are minimally qualified to continue in the selection process.
