• Safely operate a commercial truck, following traffic laws and company policies, employing defensive driving techniques to ensure safety while adhering to hours‑of‑service regulations.
• Conduct pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections, report mechanical issues to ensure proper functionality and minimize downtime.
• Load, unload and secure cargo, follow delivery schedules, verify documentation and obtain necessary signatures.
• Communicate professionally with dispatchers, customers and stakeholders, addressing inquiries and reporting feedback.
• Adhere to transportation and safety regulations, including weight limits, hazardous materials, and driving restrictions, and maintain required certifications.
• Respond to emergencies, accidents or breakdowns following company protocols, and report incidents promptly.

• Follow safety protocols and procedures, wearing appropriate PPE and securing loads.
• Stop truck at predetermined locations to collect or deliver metals or refuse. May manually load or unload materials and operate automated lifting mechanisms.

• Extensive knowledge of FMCSA/DOT regulations.
• Knowledge of hydraulic lugger, roll‑off, and end‑dump trailer operation.
• Train others in safe truck and equipment operation.
• Good verbal and written communication; interact professionally with customers.
• Work well independently and in a team.
• Problem‑solve and learn quickly.
• Negotiate and settle differences quickly and peacefully.
• Operate heavy machinery and handle equipment safely.
• Complete safety awareness training.

• At least two years of related experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Class A Commercial Motor Vehicle License.
• Clean motor vehicle record.
• CDL Hazardous Materials Endorsement (Preferred).
• Certification as a Tier 1 CDL driver.
• Pass and maintain a DOT physical exam.

• Lifting: must be able to lift, carry and move up to 50 pounds at a time.
• Work physically demanding: climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, carrying, stooping.
• Good hand‑eye coordination and balance; perform tasks requiring use of arms and legs.
• Work long periods including evenings and weekends when necessary.
• Meet DOT physical requirements and wear protective equipment for eye and ear.
• Operate vehicles in all weather conditions and terrains; tolerate noise and smells associated with plant.
