Position TitleSpecial Inspections Technician I
Position OverviewAs a Special Inspections Technician I for Bunnell-Lammons Engineering, Inc. (BLE), you will work under the immediate supervision of a registered professional engineer. You will collaborate with site managers and engineers to perform required inspection or sampling services, collect concrete, soil, and other site materials for testing, and continuously monitor general contractor activities. Your responsibilities include onsite testing, reporting of earthwork and soil construction, foundation/subgrade evaluation, reinforcing steel, concrete placements, masonry, and asphalt testing.
You will also accurately prepare daily reports for submission to the assigned project engineer, summarizing test results and detailed construction site observations.
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
- High School Diploma or General Education (GED).
- Valid Driver's License with a clean driving history (minimum 3 years).
- Ability to work outdoors on a construction site in all seasons and weather conditions for extended periods of time.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently while completing scheduled tasks.
- Effective verbal and written communication with team members, BLE leadership, clients, and local, state, and federal authorities.
- Detail-oriented and able to work in a time-conscious, efficient manner.
- Basic knowledge of smartphones and computers for communication and record keeping (MS Office: Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Physical ability to stand, walk, kneel, stoop, bend, lift up to 50 pounds, tug and pull on unstable, unpaved ground.
- Must acquire the Special Inspector General Requirements Certification within three (3) months of employment and two additional certifications within the following eighteen (18) months. Required certifications:
- Reinforced Concrete – Codes 47C
- Structural Masonry – Codes 84C
- Soils – Codes ECC
- Two years of previous construction materials inspection.
- Industry certified inspector.
