Forest Grove School District is seeking dynamic and collaborative teachers to support the 2026 Summer Learning Program. Summer Learning teachers will provide engaging, high-quality instruction designed to accelerate literacy and academic growth through evidence-based instructional practices, student discourse, and hands‑on learning experiences.
This temporary position is designed as a learning lab model in which teachers participate in ongoing professional learning, observe peers, reflect on instructional practices, and strengthen instructional strategies throughout the summer program.
Summer Learning classrooms will be staffed collaboratively to support instruction, intervention, and student engagement.
The Summer Learning Program is designed to:
- Strengthen literacy instruction and intervention practices
- Support student engagement through meaningful discourse and collaboration
- Provide hands‑on science learning opportunities
- Increase teacher capacity through embedded professional learning
- Create supportive and engaging classroom environments for students
Teachers will engage in weekly professional learning focused on Constructing Meaning Strategies for all content areas.
Student learning will occur daily from 7:45 am‑12:45 pm. Professional learning will occur daily from 12:45 pm – 2:30 pm using a collaborative learning lab approach.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Plan and deliver engaging, standards‑aligned instruction
- Implement literacy‑focused instructional practices and interventions
- Utilize student discourse and opportunities to respond to increase engagement
- Collaborate with fellow classroom teachers and instructional assistants
- Participate in daily professional learning and instructional reflection
Use formative assessment practices to monitor student progress - Support positive classroom culture and behavior expectations
- Communicate effectively with program staff and administrators
- Maintain accurate attendance and student records
- Participate in required staff meetings and program preparation
- Perform other duties as assigned
Summer Learning teachers are expected to:
- Attend all required professional learning sessions
- Participate actively in peer observations and collaborative planning
- Reflect on instructional practices and adjust instruction based on student needs
- Implement newly learned instructional strategies during the program
Required:
- Valid Oregon Teaching License
- Demonstrated commitment to student learning and collaboration
- Experience providing literacy instruction and/or intervention
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team setting
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred
- Program Preparation/Staff Training Begins:
June 18, 2026 - Summer Learning Program:
June 22, 2026 – July 16, 2026, ½ day on July 17th to clean the classrooms. - No Fridays
- Daily schedule includes student instruction and embedded professional learning
Teacher hourly rate for hours worked within the schedule.
