TEACHER - CLASSROOM; PRE-SCHOOL PROGRAM HS Position SummaryThe educator will continue to develop a new preschool program for Forest Grove High School for the 2026-27 school year. The educator will teach high school courses while simultaneously overseeing the preschool program. The educator reports to the Principal or Designated Administrator and does not supervise any employees.
Essential Responsibilities- Design and create a preschool learning space for 3 and 4 year olds, including learning stations (math, art, reading, science, imaginative play, etc) with age appropriate materials.
- Design high school curriculum to be taught to coincide with the preschool learning space (Child Development 2 and Child Development
3). - Outline and design units of study, learning objectives, with clearly defined student learning outcomes.
- Identify and select age-appropriate teaching strategies to support learning objectives and student learning outcomes.
- Set up and maintain an enrollment program for 3 and 4 year olds to apply and enroll in the FGHS Little Viks Preschool.
- Teach and maintain gradebook for high school courses (Child Development
2) while simultaneously overseeing the preschool program. - Perform other related duties as assigned by the Principal, Superintendent, or Designated Administrator, in accordance with District rules and policies.
- Provide a variety of situational appropriate instructional techniques and methods to promote high levels of achievement in relation to individual abilities.
- Demonstrate knowledge of and ability to use research-based principles of effective instruction, organizing instruction using learning objectives with clearly defined student outcomes.
- Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective student learning, including developing and enforcing written rules of classroom behavior, communicating goals and academic expectations, and ensuring health and safety of students.
- Prepare effective lesson plans and provide instruction based on District approved curriculum and standards.
- Develop appropriate progress grading standards and communicate them to students and parents.
- Maintain positive interpersonal relationships with staff, students, and parents.
- Provide documentation of student progress, including timely feedback and record keeping.
- Build motivation and interest in learning, exhibit personal interest, and stay current with literature and activities in reading.
- Maintain an ongoing professional growth plan and participate in District-sponsored inservice offerings as appropriate.
- Assist in the enforcement of school and District rules and policies, and share responsibility for non-classroom student activities.
- Maintain consistent and predictable attendance to meet the requirements of the position.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field of education.
Skills
- Maintain integrity of confidential information relating to students, staff, or district patrons.
Knowledge
- Knowledge of age-appropriate teaching methods, state curriculum framework, and education code.
Abilities
- Demonstrates command of oral and written English language.
- Ability to work collaboratively and establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers.
- Ability to effectively work and communicate with students, parents, and school personnel from diverse cultures or backgrounds in English, Spanish, or other languages related to the job.
- Ability to work harmoniously with others.
Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing Required
- Holds an appropriate license from Teacher Standards and Practices Commission in the State of Oregon and the required endorsement for the content area and grade level.

Use hands for repeating tasks (Single Grasping, Pushing, Pulling, Fine Manipulation);

Lifting primarily Medium Work (50 lbs occasionally, 25 lbs frequently).
