Assistant Drama Director
The job of "Assistant Drama Director" is to support the Drama Director in overseeing the Forest Grove High School Theatre Department. The District believes that extra-curricular activities and the area of performing arts are an integral part of school life. All students, regardless of their ability, should take part if possible to be able to grow physically, intellectually, and socially through participation.
The Assistant Drama Director will help organize and conduct the theatre programs to meet the needs of the school district and their participants.
Essential responsibilities include exhibiting exceptional integrity and character at all times, acting as a positive role model in the school and community, cultivating a program culture that demands respect between participants, recruiting students within the school to participate in the program, collaborating with and following direction of the Administration, assisting in organizing the specific theatre program so that it is consistent with the District and building goals and objectives for students/performers, communicating with participants in a manner that models respect, supporting the academic achievement of student/performers, overseeing other staff that contribute in the theatre program, demonstrating proper active supervision during all scheduled activities of student-performers including, but not limited to, performances, practice, auditions, and after events, being accountable for expenditures and fund-raising in accordance with established District procedures and written approval of the administration, following current District procedures for the handling of program finances, being responsible for the care, distribution, and collection of District equipment and supplies, developing and maintaining a positive rapport with students, parents, and assisting theatre staff throughout the program, assuming responsibility for the conduct and performance of program participants, reporting any behavior that endangers the physical, emotional or mental safety of anyone in the program to the Athletic Director within 24 hours, developing and implementing an off-season program for your athletes, cooperating and collaborating with all staff responsible for facilities, and developing, articulating and implementing a vision for the theatre program.
Minimum qualifications include experience in and/or knowledge of the theatre, ability and willingness to effectively communicate in verbal and written modes with student performers, parents, assistants, and other school staff, ability and willingness to perform responsibilities in accordance with school and District procedures and policies, maintaining integrity of confidential information relating to students, staff, or District patrons, the ability to work harmoniously with others and collaborate solutions to concerns, and successfully passing a criminal background check.
