Overview

Who We Are:

Our manufacturing facility is located in Oregon, flanked by the coast range on the west and the Cascade Mountains on the east. They began as a supplier of group operator air break disconnects. Their product line has evolved to include motor operators, ground switches, surge suppression resistors, unitized phase-over-phase designs, to mention a few.

Position

OPTI STAFFING IS HIRING! Forest Grove. M-F 6am-2:30pm. $22 - 25/hr. + DOE.

What you ll do

A welding team member plays a crucial role in the manufacturing and fabrication process. Responsibilities include performing layouts, fittings, and welding fabricated and forged components to assemble structural forms such as switch bases, frames, and other components in the product line.

The primary welding process involves MIG welding (hardwire with shielding gas) on black steel (A36/A500). Weld beads are generally 5/16  in size
, with minimal work on light-gauge materials.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct lay outs & position, align, and fit & fabricate metal components
  • Clamp and tack-weld parts to secure position for welding
  • Set up equipment and weld parts, using arc or gas welding equipment
  • Document and record work completed and materials scraped or rejected
  • Ensure the quality of parts being produced by checking specifications and material quality along with operating functionality

Requirements and Desired Qualifications
  • High school degree or general education degree (GED); and a welding certificate from a college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
  • Extensive knowledge of various welding techniques, including TIG welding, oxy-fuel welding, and arc welding.
  • Skilled in both mechanical and manual welding practices
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Know when and how to use tools and equipment to perform the job in an efficient, effective and safe manner
  • Well organized with an attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize projects and meet deadlines
