Location: Off Campus at B Street Learning Commons (1155 B St, Forest Grove) and Wild Roots Farm Campus (Gales Creek)

Wage: $16.80/hr

Length of employment:2026-27 academic year

Purpose of Position:Wild Roots creates inclusive, relationship-centered learning communities where children and adults build meaningful connections with land, food, and one another. Students join a collaborative, welcoming team and gain hands-on experience in regenerative gardening, small-scale farming, community stewardship, outdoor education, and nonprofit programs. The role offers mentorship, increasing responsibility, and opportunities to connect classroom learning with visible community impact

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

The assistant works alongside staff and volunteers to care for active community learning landscapes. A shift may include:

• seeding,planting, watering, mulching, composting, harvesting, managing weeds, caring fortools
• identifying priorities
• responds to seasonal needs
• welcomes community participants
• documents completed work.

Outcomes include healthier and more accessible gardens,stronger food-growing and habitat systems, and well-prepared spaces for children and community programs.

Required:

• Dependable and communicative
• Ability to work collaboratively and safely outdoors in varied weather
• Willing to learn through hands-on work
• Able to lift/carry up to 30 pounds with reasonable accommodation
• Interest or experience in gardening, farming, ecology, sustainability, food systems, habitat restoration, or community-based work. No advanced experience required.
