GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
  • Performs skilled work in maintaining, operating, and repairing of all campus buildings and facilities.
  • Inspect, repair, install, and maintain physical facilities requiring skilled mechanical and trade work.
  • Requires a good well-rounded working knowledge in all fields.
  • Performs work in the inspection, repair, construction and documentation of all work, systems, and hazardous conditions.
  • Is responsible for the lighting fixtures and programs on university property or city collaborations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Perform preventative and general repairs to new/existing installations on campus.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical malfunctions.
  • Consult University Community members on possibilities of their electrical needs.
  • Install new electrical and data applications as needed or retrofit those that do not meet user needs.
  • Advise on construction projects done by contractors in regards to electrical work.
  • Keep abreast of all electrical codes.
  • Keep a log book of work performed and work closely with the electrical inspector.
  • Maintain and monitor Pacific’s general electrical permit.
  • Respond daily to safety and emergency situations regarding students, faculty, and staff.
  • Keep all other engineers and campus community informed of work being performed that may impact their living, teaching, or work area.
  • May lead or instruct other workers as required.
  • Ability to work with outside contractors following all University procedures and reporting procedures.
  • Certified to use a lift.
  • Operate hand and power tools in a skilled manner; fabricate material and equipment.
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:
  • Perform other related duties as required by the Facilities Engineering Supervisor or Director of Facilities and Safety Management.
  • Be available by phone for emergency electrical issues.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

JOB SCOPE:
The job operates within established parameters; however the individual is responsible for making recommendations and having input on decisions that relate directly to their area of expertise.

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITY:
Supervises the Limited Maintenance Electrician

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of 5 years of overall electrical working experience.
  • Valid Oregon Driver’s License.
  • Must have a current and valid electrical license in Oregon (minimal General Journeyman).
  • General Supervisor’s license is preferred.
  • HVAC control experience is preferred.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES & BEHAVIORS:
  • Communicates with students, faculty, staff and the public appropriate to the age of the individual served.
  • Builds on basic learning and carries it from one situation to another.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking skills in problem solving and decision-making.
  • Asks questions and seeks assistance.
  • Takes responsibility to eliminate the source of problems.
  • Demonstrates confidentiality regarding information pertaining to all students, faculty and staff.
  • Maintains proper appearance and personal conduct for the employee’s particular job.
  • Uses effective communication skills taking into consideration body language, filters, listening, paraphrasing, and questions with customers of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
  • Demonstrates ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to interpret and follow written schematics and blueprints.
  • Able to complete a University Drivers Safety Course as well as other OSHA required…
