Position Overview
The Building Maintenance Technician is responsible for buildings and grounds, ensuring the installation and upkeep of systems and equipment, and seasonal duties related to property maintenance. Demonstrates Mustad values, showing respect for and engagement with co-workers, especially as they contribute to a quality product and organization success.
Essential Job Functions (required duties and responsibilities)- Performs or assists with maintenance and repair of all facilities’ heating/AC, plumbing and lighting systems. Ensures preventive maintenance is scheduled and performed throughout the year, following all safety and SOP regulations and procedures, including Mustad Performance System (MPS).
- Performs all janitorial duties daily or weekly, as needed, including, but not limited to sweeping production and office areas, cleaning locker rooms, lunch rooms, restrooms, and stocking with supplies as required (soap, toilet paper, towels, etc.).
- Is responsible for snow removal, including shoveling and plowing, as needed.
- Is responsible for grounds upkeep including mowing, trimming, and planting as needed.
- Performs infrequent painting or other building cosmetic changes as required or requested.
- Ensures all hazardous materials are properly labeled, stored and handled properly and that all Safety Data Sheets (SDS) are maintained and updated for facilities as required.
- Provides documentation as needed.
- Performs other duties as requested by management.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to read, write and speak English.
- 3+ years of building and grounds maintenance experience including trouble shooting and correcting problems with electrical, plumbing, and heating, cooling and ventilation systems (HVAC).
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Training and/or certification in electrical, mechanical, plumbing or other related field strongly preferred.
- Prolonged periods of standing, walking.
- Ability to frequently stoop, kneel, bend, balance, reach above shoulders, crouch, climb.
- Ability for frequent use of hands to feel, handle, touch, or manipulate.
- Specific vision requirements for this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
- Frequently lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift/move up to 75 pounds.
- Factory setting.
- Exposure to heat, humidity, dust fumes, gases, toxic/caustic chemicals, airborne particles.
- Exposure to significantly loud noise.
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts on line, as well as moving equipment throughout the factory.
- Mandatory use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) which the company provides.
- Exposure to extreme but infrequent hot or cold outside temperatures.
- Infrequent exposure to heights.
