Overview
Forest Lake Ace Hardware is upgrading and building a new Housewares storefront that operates independently from the Hardware store. With this upgrade we are creating a new Housewares Manager position.
The Housewares Manager will train Sales Associates to assist customers, cashier, execute promotional initiatives, merchandise and maintain store cleanliness. Previous retail management experience is required for this role.
Forest Lake Ace Housewares Manager reports to Forest Lake Ace Hardware General Manager and will maintain store standards consistent with the parent store. This includes customer service, cleanliness, inventory accuracy, cash till accuracy, Ace Rewards program performance and positive customer feedback results. The Housewares Manager will focus on overall business health and bottom line of the store.
The ideal candidate takes ownership of their work, is eager to learn and grow, and actively helps every customer, every time.
Responsibilities- Leads by example; models correct behavior and adherence to company policies and procedures.
- When necessary, to perform all duties of the Sales Associate.
- Must be knowledgeable of merchandise sold in the Housewares Department to educate customers & staff on functions/use of merchandise.
- Responsible for ordering, receiving, and merchandising.
- Orders merchandise or prepares PO's to replenish merchandise on hand.
- Receives merchandise and verifies against purchase order. Reports/documents damaged & shorted merchandise following company procedures.
- Prices merchandise according desired profit margins and verifies price against purchase order. Reports/documents price discrepancies and "not on file" items.
- Processes purchase order and invoice for implementation at required deadline.
- Ability to merchandise "bold displays."
- Displays and arranges merchandise on shelves, counters, or tables to promote sales.
- Changes and/or moves displays to keep merchandise fresh and appealing to the customer.
- Cleans merchandise, shelves, counters, and tables.
- Obtains merchandise requested by customers or receives merchandise selected by customers.
- Operates a cash register following established policies and procedures.
- Responsible for the accurate recording of customer transactions, including the acceptance of payment in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.
- Responsible for accurate balancing of cash register.
- Maintenance of inventory control especially for theft, shrinkage, and storage.
- Assures low shrink and waste through proper ordering and inventory control.
- Responsible for inventory control, preparing for inventory, and inventory results.
- Follows safety work standards and reports any safety hazards to Store Director.
- Serves customers with a smile and willing attitude. Assures high sales through establishing relationships with customers to ensure repeat business.
- Handles customer complaints in such a manner to assure customer satisfaction.
- Availability requirements include; but not limited to days, evenings, weekends, holidays.
- Follows & enforces polices and procedures set forth in the employee handbook at all times.
Starting pay for this role is approximately $25-27/hr dependent upon experience and expertise.
