The Flatwork Finisher position is a skilled trade role focused on the precise finishing and installation of concrete flatwork surfaces such as sidewalks, driveways, patios, and floors. The primary goal is to ensure that all flatwork projects meet stringent quality standards for durability, safety, and aesthetic appeal. This role requires advanced knowledge of concrete materials, finishing techniques, and the ability to interpret blueprints and project specifications accurately.

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with project managers and other construction professionals to deliver projects on time and within budget. Ultimately, this position plays a critical role in creating long‑lasting, high‑quality concrete surfaces that meet client expectations and regulatory requirements.

• Completion of a recognized apprenticeship or equivalent experience in concrete flatwork.
• Proven experience as a flatwork finisher with a minimum of 3 years in a similar role.
• Ability to read and interpret construction blueprints and technical drawings.
• Knowledge of concrete curing processes and finishing techniques.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various job sites within the United States.

• Certification in concrete finishing or related trade certifications.
• Experience with advanced finishing techniques such as stamped or decorative concrete.
• Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and construction site safety practices.
• Ability to operate heavy machinery related to concrete work, such as power trowels and screeds.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team environment.

• Prepare and set forms for concrete flatwork according to project specifications and blueprints.
• Mix, pour, and finish concrete surfaces using hand and power tools to achieve smooth, level, and durable finishes.
• Perform detailed surface treatments such as broom finishes, troweling, edging, and jointing to enhance appearance and functionality.
• Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with quality standards and make necessary adjustments or repairs.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe and organized manner, adhering to all safety protocols.

The required skills for this role include expert knowledge of concrete materials and finishing methods, which are applied daily to produce high‑quality flatwork surfaces. The candidate uses blueprint reading skills to accurately follow project plans and ensure precise execution.
