Position Summary
Instructs students in one or more contents/areas, such as Reading, ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies. May be designated according to subject matter/content specialty. Utilizes current strategies and theories to plan and implement lessons. This position reports to the Principal.
Key Responsibilities- Instructs students using various teaching methods such as lecture, audiovisual aids, demonstration, and other materials to supplement presentations.
- Assigns lessons and corrects homework; administers tests to evaluate students’ progress, record results, and issue reports to inform parents of progress.
- Maintains discipline in classroom and supervises behavior outside the classroom (hallways, bus, cafeteria, rest room duty).
- Prepares course outlines and objectives according to curriculum guidelines or state and local requirements.
- Conducts parent/teacher conferences to review students’ progress, performance, and behavior problems.
- Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops.
- All other duties as assigned and required to perform the above services.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher required.
- Minimum of one (1) year of teaching experience preferred.
- Makes recommendations and/or decisions which usually affect the entire school.
- Certification by the State of Georgia in Education T-4 to T-7 as required by the GaPSC.
- Normal classroom/school setting.
- Must be able to stand and walk approximately seven to seven and one‑half hours per day. Light duty – requires sitting at a desk or table, intermittently standing or stooping. Light lifting or carrying up to twenty pounds.
