POSITION SUMMARY: This position provides instruction to students enrolled in the Agriscience program. The Agricultural Science Teacher educates students about plant and animal science, agribusiness, environmental conservation, and agricultural mechanics. The role includes classroom instruction and hands‑on learning experiences, integrating Future Farmers of America (FFA) activities. This position reports to the Principal.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Facilitate and coordinate a rigorous agricultural curriculum with career‑related instruction; assess student progress and differentiate instruction.
• Integrate core content academics and embed literature, experiences, and project‑based learning assignments.
• Manage program‑assigned equipment, software, and supplies.
• Develop and implement lesson plans in alignment with Georgia Performance Standards for Agricultural Education, covering horticulture, animal science, agriscience, agribusiness, forestry, and agricultural mechanics.
• Supervise and support students in Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) projects.
• Facilitate hands‑on learning through school farms, greenhouses, or labs.
• Collaborate with local farmers, agribusinesses, and community organizations.
• Ensure student safety during lab work, fieldwork, and farm activities.
• Assess student performance and provide feedback for academic growth.
• Advises and coordinates FFA activities, competitions, and leadership events.
• Stay updated on agricultural trends and integrate them into instruction.
• Attend professional development and maintain certification requirements.
• Sponsor/inflate co‑curricular FFA experiences for leadership development and workforce readiness.
• Administer developmental testing programs and subject‑specific assessments to evaluate competency levels.
• Maintain professional development competence through mandatory educational and professional development training.
• Engage in and document minutes of the local school CTAE Advisory Committee for career‑related curriculum support.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the mandate of the obligations.

KEY

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Agricultural Science or mandatory equivalent from a GaPSC‑accepted accredited institution.
• Minimum 2 years of verifiable full‑time occupational experience in the field.
• Mandatory decisions impacting the department or school.
• Mandatory Level 4 or higher GaPSC certification in the related field.
• Mandatory independent judgment and mandatory communication responsibility.
