Job Description
Position summary:
The Pre‑K teacher provides quality instruction and supervises Pre‑kindergarten students focusing on the Georgia Early Learning Development Standards (GELDS). The teacher creates a flexible Pre‑kindergarten program and class environment favorable to learning and personal growth of students, motivates students to develop communication abilities, attitudes, skills and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for further participation in the total school program, and prepares them for kindergarten readiness and success in school.
This position reports to the Principal.
- Provides individual and small group instruction designed to meet individual needs of students in communication skills, early literacy and numeracy skills, health habits, physical skills, and development of satisfactory self‑concepts. Work with other support personnel / agencies to promote this goal.
- Plans and provides differentiated small group and large group instruction based on developmental standards. Records and collects data from assessments of students' performance utilizing an appropriate database.
- Ensures compliance with program requirements; supervises and teaches preschool students; provides guidance to Pre‑K Assistants; oversees related learning activities, implements parent education programs. Meets expectations outlined by the Teacher Keys Evaluation System.
- Develops and uses instructional materials suitable for verbal or visual instruction of students with a wide range of mental, physical, and emotional maturities.
- Creates an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, interest centers, and exhibits of students' work.
- All other duties as assigned, in order to perform the above services.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in early childhood or elementary education; or a related field approved through Bright from the Start guidelines.
- Previous Pre‑K teaching experience preferred.
- Valid Georgia teaching certification issued by the GA PSC in Early Childhood Education (P‑5);
Birth to kindergarten;
Special Education General Curriculum/ECE;
Special Education Pre‑school, Reading Endorsement.
