Sitework Engineer

This position supports the Transmission and Distribution (T&D) Substation Design Group and the Transmission Line Design Group. The Engineer will be responsible for producing engineering drawings, specifications, and material requirements for Civil Sitework design projects. This includes tasks related to grading and drainage, erosion control, and oil containment, with a focus on safety, quality, scheduling, and costs. The role requires occasional travel for field meetings and site visits, approximately 25% of the time.
Key Responsibilities- Produce engineering drawings, specifications, and material requirements for Civil Sitework design projects.
- Design site grading, stormwater systems, erosion control, and support permitting processes.
- Ensure designs comply with local, state, and federal regulations for civil grading and construction.
- Read, interpret, and apply design criteria and government regulations to construction drawings.
- Perform cost estimating and material quantity takeoffs.
- Collaborate with teams involved in surveying, land acquisition, and obtaining easements.
- Manage multiple projects, maintaining priorities and meeting deadlines.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to other team members.
Education:
A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is required. A Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering is strongly preferred. An Engineer‑In‑Training (EIT) Certification is also required.
Technical
Skills:
Proficiency with standard office software is necessary. Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and stormwater modeling software such as Hydraflow hydro graphs or Interconnected Channel and Pond Routing (ICPR) is required.
General
Skills:
The candidate must be a self‑starter with problem‑solving skills and strong oral and written communication abilities. This role requires effective time management, organizational skills, and the ability to work well within a team environment. Interpersonal skills to build relationships with peers, customers, and the public are essential.
- A Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of Georgia, or the ability to obtain one within 12 months of hire.
- Detailed knowledge of civil construction methods, equipment, techniques, and associated costs.
- Detailed knowledge of right‑of‑way clearing, environmental regulations, and crew support activities.
