Overview

Johnson Service Group (JSG) is a nationally recognized professional staffing and recruiting firm that is looking for an experienced Drafter SR to fill a three-year contract assignment in the Forest Park, GA area.

Work Schedule:

5-8 hr days or Flex-9 schedule.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for creating designs in AutoCAD 2D for the company’s transmission and distribution electrical substations and supporting company design criteria, standardization efforts and FAC-008 compliance efforts.
  • Produce engineering drawings using AutoCAD 2D and produce specifications and material requirements for substation projects with an emphasis on safety, quality, scheduling and costs.
  • Creation/modification of scaled 2D drawings designing the physical aspects of electrical substations, including foundation layouts, grounding layouts, conduit layouts, switch gear assembly layouts, control buildings, electrical bus design, etc.
  • Transmit drawing packages and supporting specifications using the Transmission Engineering job transmittal program.
  • Coordinate and communicate with engineers and other departments associated with electrical substation design.
  • Provide support to the OPCO’s substation construction, field services, project management and substation maintenance departments.
  • Support site visits for projects as required.
Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering
  • 4-year Engineering Technology degree
  • 2-year technical degree with at least 5 years of related industry experience
  • High school diploma with at least 8 years of significant related industry experience

Experience

  • Strong understanding of substation equipment is preferred.
  • Experience in transmission and/or distribution substation operations for an electric power utility company is preferred.
  • Good understanding of utility electric grid operations is preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic electrical power system theory is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of IEEE standards, NESC, NEC and OSHA safe operating practices is preferred.
  • Ability to create substation physical design drawings from a single line diagram is preferred.
  • Ability to create/manipulate 2D substation physical design drawings.
  • AutoCAD training, experience or certification is preferred.
  • Experience working with document management and estimating systems such as TEAMS, STOMP, MAXIMO, SCST Vault, Autodesk Vault Professional 2023 is preferred.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office products is required.
