Senior Drafter – Electrical Substation Design
LocationForest Park, GA
Job SummarySouthern Company Services is seeking an experienced Senior Drafter to support the design of Transmission & Distribution electrical substations. This role is responsible for creating and modifying AutoCAD 2D engineering drawings, preparing construction packages, and supporting substation design projects while ensuring compliance with company standards, FAC-008 requirements, and industry regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Create and modify AutoCAD 2D drawings for electrical substation projects.
- Develop physical layouts including foundations, grounding, conduit, switch gear, control buildings, and electrical bus systems.
- Prepare engineering drawings, material takeoffs, and construction documentation.
- Support substation construction, maintenance, and field services.
- Coordinate with engineers, project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Maintain compliance with Southern Company design standards and industry codes.
- Participate in occasional field visits to support project execution.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field OR equivalent technical education and relevant industry experience.
- Experience with AutoCAD 2D drafting and design.
- Strong understanding of electrical substations, transmission and distribution systems, or utility operations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
