Occasional travel required for field visits and site coordination meetings.
The Sitework Engineer SR 1 will support Transmission and Distribution (T&D) Substation Design Groups as well as Transmission Line Design Groups. The role is responsible for producing engineering drawings, specifications, and material requirements for civil sitework design projects. Work includes, but is not limited to, grading, drainage design, erosion control, and oil containment systems, with a strong emphasis on safety, quality, schedule adherence, and cost efficiency.
This position requires approximately 25% travel for field meetings and site visits.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering is required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering is strongly preferred.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is required.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of Georgia is strongly preferred, or ability to obtain licensure within 12 months of hire.
- Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations related to civil grading design and construction, including NPDES requirements.
- Understanding of surveying, land acquisition, and easement processes.
- Strong knowledge of cost estimating and quantity takeoffs.
- Knowledge of civil construction methods, equipment, techniques, and associated costs.
- Understanding of right-of-way clearing, environmental regulations, and construction support activities.
- Ability to design civil sitework land development projects, including:
- Site grading
- Stormwater design
- Erosion control
- Permitting processes
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply design criteria and government regulations to construction drawings.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D is required.
- Experience with stormwater modeling tools such as:
- Hydraflow Hydrographs
- Interconnected Channel and Pond Routing (ICPR)
- Or similar civil engineering software
- Strong proficiency with standard office software applications.
- Self-starter with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to simplify technical concepts.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships across all organizational levels, including internal teams, external stakeholders, and the public.
- Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines.
- Customer-focused mindset with a willingness to respond to stakeholder needs and incorporate feedback.
- Ability to mentor others and support skill development within the team.
- Hybrid schedule:
Monday through Thursday in-office, Friday remote. - Occasional travel required for field visits and site coordination meetings.
