Your role at Clorox:

This Packaging Engineer Throughput & EIC Support is based at the Atlanta West manufacturing facility in Forest Park, Georgia and reports to the Site Engineering Leader.

The primary purpose of the role is to deliver sustainable throughput improvements across packaging and/or processing operations by eliminating constraints, reducing manufacturing losses, and improving equipment and process capability.

The engineer will work closely with Maintenance and Operations leaders, apply formal problem‑solving methods, and execute a limited number of targeted capital projects. The role also provides secondary engineering‑level escalation support for electrical, instrumentation, controls, and automation issues affecting site performance.

In this role, you will:
  • Lead data‑driven improvement work that increases packaging and/or processing throughput, removes bottlenecks, and improves equipment and process capability.
  • Provide secondary engineering support for elevated electrical, instrumentation, controls, automation, PLC/HMI, drive, motor, sensor, and industrial communication issues.
  • Partner with Maintenance and Operations leaders to address daily and longer‑term performance issues, recurring failures, reliability opportunities, and operating standards.
  • Use DMAIC, Root Cause Analysis, FMEA, RCFA, formal project management, or another structured elevated problem‑solving methodology to move issues from problem definition through verified sustainment.
  • Coordinate maintenance technicians, controls resources, equipment suppliers, contractors, and external engineering support during complex EIC escalations.
  • Lead or support a limited number of capital projects from scope development and business justification through installation, commissioning, training, and vertical start‑up.
  • Develop and maintain relevant technical documentation, drawings, operating parameters, troubleshooting standards, and change records.
  • Build Operations and Maintenance capability through coaching, technical guidance, and knowledge transfer following improvements or equipment changes.
  • Ensure all assigned work aligns with site safety, quality, environmental, regulatory, budget, and change‑control requirements.
What we look for:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering from an accredited institution.
  • 3 to 5 years of engineering experience in manufacturing, industrial operations, automation, maintenance, reliability, process improvement, or a related technical environment.
  • Experience in electrical, instrumentation, controls, automation, PLC/HMI, drive, motor, sensor, and industrial communication troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrated experience improving equipment, process, or manufacturing performance.
  • Experience applying DMAIC, formal project management, Root Cause Analysis, FMEA, RCFA, or another formal elevated problem‑solving methodology.
  • Ability to analyze manufacturing data, identify systemic losses, determine root causes, and implement sustainable countermeasures.
  • Strong manufacturing troubleshooting, prioritization, documentation, project leadership, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with production employees, maintenance technicians, technical specialists, vendors, and site leaders.
  • Working knowledge of electrical, instrumentation, controls, automation, PLC/HMI, drives, motors, sensors, and industrial communication systems is preferred.
  • Experience managing contractors, equipment suppliers, or external engineering resources is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing safety, quality, environmental, regulatory, and change‑management expectations.
