Job Summary And Qualifications

Based in the Atlanta area, the Director, Capital Equipment Services provides enterprise leadership for the planning, assessment, acquisition, management, standardization, and disposition of medical capital equipment across the health system. Reporting to the Vice President of Supply Chain, this leader is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive capital equipment strategy that aligns clinical, operational, financial, technology, construction, and organizational priorities.

The Director leads the enterprise capital equipment planning process, including technology assessment, lifecycle and replacement planning, capital prioritization, budgeting, forecasting, sourcing support, equipment standardization, implementation, maintenance strategy coordination, utilization assessment, redeployment, and disposition. This role partners closely with executive leadership, physicians, clinicians, Finance, Supply Chain, Clinical Engineering, Information Technology, Facilities, Construction, and operational stakeholders to ensure capital investments support safe patient care, clinical innovation, operational readiness, and long-term financial stewardship.

The Director establishes governance, standardized methodologies, and decision-support processes that enable objective evaluation and prioritization of capital requests. The role is accountable for improving visibility into the health system's capital equipment portfolio, optimizing total cost of ownership, reducing unnecessary variation, strengthening supplier and contract compliance, and ensuring approved capital initiatives are implemented successfully and deliver measurable value.

What you will do in this role includes:

Enterprise Capital Equipment Strategy And Governance:

  • Develop and execute a multi-year enterprise capital equipment strategy aligned with the health system's clinical, operational, financial, growth, and facility objectives
  • Establish and continuously improve governance structures, policies, workflows, and standardized methodologies for capital equipment planning, review, prioritization, approval, acquisition, implementation, management, and disposition
  • Lead development of an enterprise capital equipment roadmap that integrates routine replacement needs, strategic clinical initiatives, new technology, construction projects, regulatory requirements, and organizational growth
  • Serve as the primary capital equipment advisor to the Vice President of Supply Chain and other executive, clinical, operational, and financial leaders
  • Establish consistent decision criteria that consider clinical need, patient safety, strategic alignment, financial impact, operational readiness, technology requirements, utilization, risk, and total cost of ownership
  • Ensure capital equipment decisions align with enterprise standards, approved technology strategies, supplier agreements, Health Trust contracts, and organizational priorities
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures supporting transparent, disciplined, and consistent capital equipment decision-making across all facilities and service lines

Capital Planning, Prioritization, Budgeting, and Forecasting:

  • Lead the annual and multi-year medical capital planning process across hospitals, ambulatory facilities, clinical service lines, and other care delivery locations
  • Partner with Finance, executive leadership, Clinical Engineering, Facilities, Information Technology, and operational leaders to develop comprehensive capital budgets and forecasts
  • Evaluate and prioritize capital requests using standardized clinical, operational, financial, technology, utilization, risk, and strategic criteria
