Opportunity

This position will help support exploitation missions both CONUS and OCONUS via deployment.

• Examine evidence in consultation with firearms and latent print analysts to ensure proposed collection approach will not negatively impact other forensic data.
• Ensure proper chain of custody is maintained.
• Collect potential DNA samples using approved procedures designed to minimize contamination; properly package, mark, and store them for extraction.
• Use photographic equipment to capture still images of evidence items and key portions, or other exhibits, to support analysis and documentation.
• Generate STR DNA profiles from evidence and reference samples.
• Analyze and interpret data using probabilistic genotyping software.
• Annotate case file documentation and generate reports detailing processing techniques and examination results.
• Perform administrative and/or technical reviews of reports and worksheets.
• Perform instrument maintenance.

• Five (5) years of experience working in a forensic laboratory performing DNA analysis on criminal evidence and/or intelligence exploitation.
• A bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, or a forensic‑related field with coursework in genetics, biochemistry, molecular biology, statistics, and/or population genetics.
• A master’s degree in biology, chemistry, or a forensic‑related field may substitute for one (1) year of experience.
• Experience in identifying bodily fluids, extracting DNA using automated platforms, generating STR and Y‑STR profiles via standard and direct amplification, interpreting mixtures with probabilistic genotyping software, submitting profiles to databases, and conducting technical and administrative case‑file reviews.
• Ability to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance (US citizenship required).
• Must be able to obtain a US passport.
• Must be able to complete and pass a medical assessment per customer requirements.

• Previous experience supporting the Forensic Exploitation Department (FXD).
• Top Secret clearance.

Proposed salary range for this position is: $75,200–$158,100.
