SECURITY OFFICER I - ARMED — (Testing Required)
Positions available at five locations: 2500 Patrick Henry Parkway (McDonough, GA), 755 Jefferson Street (Atlanta, GA), 62 Lake Mirror Rd (Forest Park, GA), 750 Logistics Parkway (Jackson, GA - MDC), 241 Ralph McGill Blvd (Atlanta, GA - GPC HQ). All are full‑time, on‑site.
NOTE: Security Team Lead will assign new team members to day (6 A–6 P) or night (6 P–6 A) shift, depending on location and need.
You MUST be 21 years old to apply.
Shift & Availability: Must be available to work shifts, holidays, overtime, inclement weather, call‑out and work at designated company locations (Atlanta, Forest Park, McDonough or Jackson).
- Must pass psychological test, firearms qualification, physical fitness, drug test and internal threat program (for designated security positions).
- Must have a valid driver’s license and a Georgia state firearm permit.
- Must be able to obtain and remain licensed through the Georgia Secretary of State – Board of Private Detectives and Security Agencies; successful annual qualification with all company issued firearms is required.
The Security Officer protects personnel, assets and interests across the company’s footprint. The role employs armed physical security tactics, screenings, technical security event monitoring and response.
Job RequirementsBachelor’s or associate degree preferred; equivalent training, education, and experience acceptable.
Minimum 3 years of law‑enforcement, military, private or industrial security experience preferred.
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Training and certifications reflecting industry standards required.
MajorJob Responsibilities
- Knowledge of Software House CCURE and Avigilon VMS software preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office suite).
- Make decisions with minimal supervision per policies and procedures.
- Respond to complex technical inquiries regarding access application systems.
- Coordinate and liaise with Operating Company and Corporate Security groups.
- Evaluate and respond to Physical Security Perimeter (PSP) intrusion events.
- Use sound logic and reasoning to identify solutions and approaches to problems.
- Manage stress and maintain ethical handling of sensitive information.
- Direct and control vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
- Wear and maintain personal protection equipment.
- Perform physical activity, including running, walking, lifting.
This role requires use of a Georgia Power fleet vehicle.
- At least one year of verifiable driving experience.
- Valid driver’s license for the vehicle class; driving permits not considered valid.
- No revocation of driving privileges within last 36 months; no major traffic violations (DUI, hit and run, reckless driving, etc.) in last 12 months; no pending charges.
- Consent to continuous monitoring of motor‑vehicle record.
