Full-time high school teaching position.
Required Qualifications- Education/Training:
Master’s degree in history or a Master’s degree with 18 graduate credit hours in the field; preferred teaching experience: ABD or PhD - Licensure:
Valid Illinois Professional Educators License (PEL) or Educator License with Stipulations (ELS) for grades 9-12 - Endorsement:
Social Science – History (Grades 9-12) - Knowledge/Abilities/
Skills:
Ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of this position - Dual Credit Certification:
Appointment conditional upon meeting all eligibility and credentialing requirements to teach dual credit courses, as established by Triton College or an equivalent community college. Certification must be obtained prior to or within a timeframe determined by the employing institution and maintained throughout employment
- Doctorate Degree
- Previous high school teaching experience
- Certified ESL High School or Bilingual Certification
- Bilingual Endorsement (grades 9-12)
- ESL Endorsement (grades 9-12)
- Special Education Endorsement (LBS1)
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Multiple subject area endorsements
Instructional Competencies
- Teach to prescribed outcomes and goals to lead to positive student outcomes
- Utilize standards-based learning and the gradual release of responsibility instructional model
- Design and implement coherent and rigorous instruction aligned to priority standards
- Ensure students understand learning goals and relevance of outcomes
- Differentiate using research-based practices and educational technology
- Use appropriate materials to support students’ social, emotional, academic, and behavioral health outcomes
- Provide remedial and/or enrichment material as needed
- Implement reteaching and review opportunities and interventions
- Differentiate for students with special needs, language needs, or different learning styles
- Set clear expectations, provide timely feedback, and maintain a student-centered environment
- Assign and evaluate work leading to mastery of standards
- Track, monitor, and post student progress weekly using the district SIS
- Communicate regularly with parents, students, counselors, and support staff; document in the SIS
- Be clear in explanations and directions to ensure understanding
- Speak clearly and fluently to ensure student understanding
- Establish a positive and safe learning environment
- Revise lesson plans based on formative and summative data to differentiate instruction
- Use varied instructional techniques and materials to address different learning styles
- Be creative in the use of curricular materials and demonstrate enthusiasm for the subject
- Demonstrate command of the content and knowledge of instructional research related to diverse learners

- Develop and enforce classroom rules, policies, procedures, and expectations aligned with school outcomes
- Monitor and correct student behavior to maximize learning in a positive environment
- Respond to behavioral infractions promptly and professionally
