Packaging Machine Operator – 2nd Shift
Location: Forest Park, IL
Work Hours: 4pm – 4am. Overtime may be required.
Shift: 2nd Shift, Variety of start times and weekends based on business needs.
Responsibilities- Set up, operate and maintain packaging machinery to ensure continuous, efficient production.
- Lead packaging machine set‑up and changeover for production runs, following work instructions, standards and SOPs.
- Identify and resolve issues during set‑up and changeover.
- Ensure packaging material (film, cartons, boxes, labeling) meets specifications and replenish supplies as needed.
- Feed product to conveyors, hoppers, scales or other feeding devices.
- Operate packaging equipment, including troubleshooting, adjustments, and touch‑screen programming of product weight and other relevant data.
- Conduct detailed quality checks at regular intervals; inspect filled containers to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Remove rejected product as instructed by metal detector alarm.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical issues, following escalation protocol when needed and working closely with maintenance.
- Assist with operator paperwork and using the Hand Power Jack (HPJ) to move finished goods.
- Adhere to company policies, GMP and safety standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support business objectives.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Understanding of equipment capabilities, standards, and setting points (metal detectors, weight checks, scales).
- Ability to pass certification tests on pallet jack and forklift.
- Capacity to walk or stand for prolonged periods; bend, stoop, reach and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Effective verbal and written communication and ability to follow detailed instructions.
- Teamwork, positive attitude, flexibility and willingness to perform tasks as needed.
- High school diploma or GED; or one to three months of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 1 year experience operating packaging machinery and/or working in food manufacturing (strongly preferred).

$25.00 per hour.
