Packaging Machine Operator
Forest Park, IL
Shift4 AM – 4 PM (3 days in‑person workweek)
Job DescriptionThe Packaging Machine Operator is responsible for set‑up, operation, and maintenance of various machines to ensure continuous, efficient production. The operator handles machines performing filling, labeling, packing, or wrapping functions.
Key Responsibilities- Lead packaging machine set‑up and changeover for production runs.
- Follow work instructions, standards, and SOPs for equipment set‑up and changeover.
- Identify and resolve issues during set‑up and changeover.
- Ensure packaging material meets specifications and replenish supplies as needed.
- Feed product to conveyors, hoppers, scales, and other feeding devices.
- Operate packaging equipment, troubleshoot, and adjust settings; program touchscreen for product data.
- Conduct detailed quality checks and inspect filled containers.
- Remove rejected product as instructed by metal detector alarm.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical equipment issues; follow escalation protocols.
- Work closely with maintenance and support for mechanical issues.
- Understand and demonstrate the company’s core values and operating principles.
- Adhere to all company policies, GMP, and safety standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support Ferrara Candy Company business objectives.
- Assist with operating Hand‑Power Jack (HPJ) to move finished goods.
- Assist with operator paperwork when needed.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Understanding of equipment capabilities, standards, and set points, including metal detectors, checks, and scales.
- Certification in pallet jack and forklift operation.
- Physical ability to walk or stand for prolonged periods and lift up to 50 lb.
- Effective verbal and written communication.
- Teamwork, good attitude, and flexibility to perform tasks as needed.
- High school diploma or GED; or 1–3 months related experience/training.
- Minimum of 1 year experience operating packaging machinery or working in food manufacturing (strongly preferred).

Compensation$25.00 per hour plus $1.00 per hour shift differential.
