Position SummaryThis is a Direct Hire position. The Assembly Manager is responsible for leading all assembly operations to ensure safety, quality, productivity, and customer satisfaction. This role oversees departmental performance, manages personnel and budgets, drives continuous improvement initiatives, and develops supervisors and engineers to achieve company objectives.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage the Assembly Department to achieve production, quality, and safety goals.
- Provide direction, coaching, and support to supervisors and team members.
- Monitor departmental performance and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing and Kaizen (PDCA) principles.
- Analyze manpower requirements based on customer forecasts, production specifications, OEE, and utilization rates.
- Develop and manage manpower allocation schedules.
- Monitor personnel skill levels, turnover, and staffing ratios to meet operational objectives.
- Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions to improve departmental performance.
- Manage departmental policies, capital expenditures, and operating budgets.
- Evaluate equipment and tooling needs, including make-versus-buy decisions.
- Develop job descriptions and provide training for supervisors and engineers.
- Lead projects and manage departmental initiatives to support company goals.
- Work extended hours as needed to meet production demands.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or related Engineering field.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing experience in a Lean manufacturing environment.
- Automotive manufacturing experience involving assembly operations (particularly welding) is strongly preferred.
Required Skills
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint proficiency.
- Knowledge of:
- Manpower planning and workforce calculations
- Workload analysis
- Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
- Expense planning and budgeting
Preferred Skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience delivering presentations and training groups of 75+ employees.
- Excellent problem-solving and root cause analysis abilities.
- Lean Manufacturing and Kaizen experience.
- Leadership, people management, and employee development skills.
- Knowledge of resistance/projection welding, MIG welding, and automated assembly systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
Working Conditions
- Must be able to work extended hours when required to support production schedules.

Pay Rate $80,000.00 - $95,000.00 a year
