Job Overview

The Reliability & Maintenance Engineering (RME) team works behind the scenes to maintain all robotics and material handling equipment (MHE) so customers receive their orders with Amazon’s signature speed and accuracy.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as the on‑site expert for maintaining critical automation systems.
- Understand, maintain, and troubleshoot material handling control systems, including PLC/PC controllers, industrial networks (Ethernet, Control Net, Device Net, Profibus), motor control systems, servo drives, frequency drives, and electrical distribution.
- Monitor MHE metrics and partner with maintenance/operations to address performance issues and provide analysis across operations.
- Provide first‑level escalation support for site technicians locally and remotely.
- Perform and analyze building system assessments to enhance material handling system performance.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, automation engineering, or equivalent.
- Minimum 2+ years experience in PLC programming or automation engineering.
- Experience in PLC‑based controls design, development, implementation, and support.
- Experience in a PLC‑controlled production or process environment.
- Experience working with robotics work cells and control systems.
- Knowledge of electrical theory, robotics, controls components, and automated equipment.
- Proficiency with Ladder Logic and structured programming from Siemens, Allen‑Bradley, or Codesys PLCs.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays.
- Experience with HMI and control network components, including maintenance, troubleshooting, programming, and design.
- Experience identifying, maintaining, troubleshooting, and modifying motor controls (motor starters, VFDs, DC drives, and standard electrical components).
- Experience with preventive maintenance procedures, industrial electrical, industrial controls, and industrial electronics & robotics.
- Ability to interpret and modify mechanical and electrical drawings.
- Programming experience with RSLogix
5000, Studio 5000, FT View, and other control software platforms. - Experience with material handling flow and capacity optimization.
- Experience with industrial control systems (hardware and software).
