General Summary
Drives a truck with a capacity of more than 3 tons to transport materials to and from specified destinations.
Essential Job Accountabilities- Drive truck to destination, applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and area roads.
- Prepare receipts for loads picked up.
- Collect payment for goods delivered and delivery charges.
- Maintain truck log, according to state and federal regulations.
- Maintain telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive delivery instructions.
- Load and unload truck.
- Inspect truck equipment and supplies, such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water.
- Perform emergency roadside repairs, such as changing tires, installing light bulbs, tire chains, and spark plugs.
- Position blocks and tie rope around items to secure cargo during transit.
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent. Certified CDL license required.
Work Experience3 to 5 years experience preferred.

- Read and interpret road maps.
- Practice good safety habits.
- Work in dusty or dirty surroundings.
- Follow instructions and meet set standards for hauling and scheduling.
- Judge distances and weights accurately.
- Make decisions based on verifiable standards.
- Stoop, bend, and crouch.
- Use hands, arms, and legs fully.
- See well (either naturally or with correction).
- Lift up to 50 pounds, with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
