Student Apprenticeship
Opportunities, Inc. Student Apprenticeship Program, in partnership with local school districts, is designed to provide high school students with diverse abilities with the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on work experience in a supportive, structured, and integrated work environment. Apprentices will be introduced to basic fulfillment center, packaging & assembly or warehouse tasks and supported by trained staff to develop workplace skills, confidence, and independence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with order packing, sorting, and labeling items
- Help organize inventory shelves and storage areas
- Participate in basic cleaning and maintenance tasks
- Work alongside team members to prepare shipments
- Learn and follow safety procedures and workplace routines
- Receive on-the-job training and mentorship
Support & Accommodations:
- On-site job coach or mentor for guidance and daily support
- Adjusted tasks based on individual ability and strengths
- Clear instructions with visual or written aids as needed
- Scheduled breaks and flexible pacing
Qualifications:
- Must be currently enrolled in a high school, special education, or transition program
- Demonstrates willingness to learn and participate in team activities
- Able to follow simple instructions (with or without support)
- Good attendance and punctuality
- No prior work experience required
Skills Gained:
- Time management and workplace communication
- Understanding of warehouse and fulfillment processes
- Improved social and practical life skills
- Increased independence and confidence in a work setting
Additional Information:
- This is a learning position with the goal of building future employment readiness
- Duration and schedule of the apprenticeship will be tailored in partnership with the school or educational provider
- Safety equipment and appropriate training will be provided
