Description
The Shipping Supervisor oversees outbound product shipments, maintains safety protocols, and leads the shipping team.
Safety- The Shipping Supervisor maintains a clean and safe environment, enforces safety protocols, and performs periodic inspections of equipment and facilities to prevent accidents and hazardous situations.
- Enforce all OSHA related requirements.
- Report daily safety observations and keep the department focused on safety.
- Directly supervise and coordinate all activities for outgoing products and materials.
- Act as a working supervisor alongside shipping personnel.
- Work with Logistics Manager to ensure the department is staffed as required.
- Work with Logistics Manager to assign, direct, review, and monitor staff work to maximize safety and productivity.
- Schedule truck drivers' runs in the most cost‑efficient and time‑saving manner possible; review drivers' logs daily.
- Supervise forklift operators in loading trucks neatly and to customers' satisfaction.
- Attend daily scheduling meetings and assist the plant scheduler to meet customer requirements.
- Develop a strong rapport with freight lines.
- Cycle count inventory to positively impact inventory accuracy.
- Manage aged materials using FIFO and optimizing techniques.
- Oversee all outgoing inspections.
- Utilize all resources to maximize throughput.
- Use the computer system to track on‑time delivery.
- Ensure shipping warehouse housekeeping and organization is at an acceptable level.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED with a combination of the following:
- Two years' experience as a forklift operator and/or truck driver.
- Previous shipping/receiving experience.
- Previous supervisory experience.
- Previous experience in the corrugated box industry preferred.
- General knowledge of OSHA, SQF, and 6S standards.
- Forklift certified.
- Demonstrated advanced skills with the standard features of various personal computer word processing and spreadsheet software (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and other proprietary programs-Amtech).

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk or hear; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
