Wastewater Operator

Jones Dairy Farm, a family owned and operated business for over 135 years, is searching for a Wastewater Operator. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who can demonstrate critical thinking abilities, self-reliance, initiative, drive and the ability to work in a team environment.

Position Summary: Responsible for the daily operation, monitoring, and basic maintenance of the wastewater treatment system to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant performance. This role supports process control, data collection, and equipment reliability while working closely with site leadership to maintain environmental and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Collect wastewater samples for process monitoring and regulatory compliance
  • Operate wastewater treatment equipment, read gauges/meters, and record operational data
  • Perform basic laboratory testing with minimal supervision
  • Monitor system performance using SCADA and make basic operational adjustments as needed
  • Accurately enter data into computerized tracking systems
  • Utilize CMMS to complete and track preventive and corrective maintenance tasks
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance with minimal supervision
  • Assist with maintenance and repair activities on pumps, motors, valves, and related equipment – Rebuild equipment as necessary
  • Conduct daily facility walkthroughs, complete required documentation, and escalate issues as needed
  • Handle and dose chemicals safely according to established procedures
  • Understand and follow Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and all safety protocols
  • Attend and actively participate in all trainings and programs
  • Safely operate equipment such as forklifts, scissor lifts, and power tools
  • Follow daily task assignments provided by the site lead or manager
  • Maintain proper housekeeping and organization within the wastewater facility
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications:

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers at all levels.
  • Must exemplify the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent customer service skills such as problem solving, timeliness, and follow-up- required.
  • Previous experience - 1+ years in Wastewater operations - required
  • Proficient with pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical systems, mechanical systems, PLCs, electronics, plumbing, welding, machine tools and schematic reading
  • Experience operating mobile equipment such as forklifts, scissor lifts

Physical Requirements:

  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity to operate office equipment efficiently. Ability to distinguish color. Require frequent walking, bending, standing, reach above shoulders, and sitting with exposure to production areas requiring use of safety equipment and exposure to cold, wet, damp, hot and noisy environments. Ability to lift to 40 lbs.
