The Professional Driver role at W&A Distribution Services, Inc. is an on-site position based in Fort Atkinson, WI. In this role, the driver transports freight using company tractors and logistic air-ride trailers, ensuring the safe handling of high-value and fragile shipments. Daily responsibilities include performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections, securing loads with appropriate equipment, following scheduled routes, and meeting delivery appointment times.
The driver also communicates with dispatch, adheres to all DOT regulations and company safety policies, maintains accurate logs and delivery documentation, and provides courteous, professional service to customers.
- Valid CDL license, clean driving record, and compliance with all DOT and FMCSA regulations.
- Experience operating tractors and logistic air-ride trailers, including use of ramps, lift gates, and securement equipment.
- Ability to handle high-value, fragile, and time-sensitive freight with attention to safety and detail.
- Strong time management, route planning, and communication skills for coordinating deliveries and appointments.
- Capability to perform physical tasks such as loading, unloading, strapping, shrink-wrapping, and blanket-wrapping freight.
- Familiarity with satellite-based or electronic logging systems and basic paperwork for shipments.
- Reliable work habits, professionalism with customers, and commitment to safe driving and equipment care.
- Previous over-the-road or regional driving experience preferred; high school diploma or equivalent is beneficial.
