Position: General Engineer (CASIE) (1) Fort Belvoir, VA

STARTING SALARY

$57,736 - $111,087 per year

You are part of the Army Fellows Program, a CIVILIAN position with the Department of the Army. The program offers developmental, accelerated career training and educational opportunities, with no military obligation. Fellows may receive paid training, certifications, and rotational assignments.

As a General Engineer, you will work under close supervision performing assignments and completing training. At the full-performance level, you will be expected to assist in the design and development of engineered devices, equipment or systems using established criteria or specifications; assist in the inspection and evaluation of engineered devices, equipment or systems using established criteria; identify engineering problems and recommend corrective action;

review technical engineering project design documents, computations, and submittals; and prepare technical engineering reports and studies with completeness, technical adequacy, and adherence to prescribed format of reports.

In this role you will:
  • Assist in the design and development of engineered devices, equipment or systems using established criteria or specifications.
  • Assist in the inspection and evaluation of engineered devices, equipment or systems using established criteria.
  • Identify engineering problems and recommend corrective action.
  • Review technical engineering project design documents, computations, and submittals.
  • Prepare technical engineering reports and studies with completeness, technical adequacy, and adherence to prescribed format of reports.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in engineering. The program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); OR (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics;

    (b) strength of materials; (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials; and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Degree must be completed by June 2026.

Experience, including paid, unpaid, and volunteer experiences through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, Ameri Corps) and other organizations, may qualify. Resume must clearly describe relevant experience; transcripts will be required for educational qualifications.
